The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, celebrated Hindi Day on September 17, 2024. The event was chaired by Prof. Vivek Lal, Director of the Institute. During the celebration, Prof. Lal inaugurated several new features at the Dr. Tulsidas Library, including a dedicated room for Hindi and regional language books, an Inspiration Corner, a Faculty Study Room, and a Hindi Book Exhibition. He also issued a message to the Institute’s staff highlighting the importance of Hindi in unifying people and enhancing communication with patients, which can reduce their stress during medical treatment. Prof. Lal emphasized that using Hindi in the Institute’s operations would bridge gaps between the public and administration. He praised Prof. Surendra Rana, In-Charge Acharya of the library, for setting up the new facilities and acquiring quality Hindi books. Prof. Sanjay Bhaddha, Nodal Officer (Official Language), reiterated the commitment to the Official Language Pledge and encouraged participation in Hindi competitions organized during Hindi Fortnight. He urged department heads and all personnel to engage in these activities to promote the use of Hindi in the institution.
