
Panchayat representatives should give new dimensions to village development: Deputy Commissioner
Una, September 19 - Deputy Commissioner Una, Jatin Lal has called upon the Panchayat representatives to take development in their area to new heights. He said that Panchayats are the pivot of rural development, and they should work with full information and promptness for effectively implementing the schemes and policies of the government.
Panchayat representatives were given training for effective implementation of development schemes
Una, September 19 - Deputy Commissioner Una, Jatin Lal has called upon the Panchayat representatives to take development in their area to new heights. He said that Panchayats are the pivot of rural development, and they should work with full information and promptness for effectively implementing the schemes and policies of the government. He expressed these views during a refresher training programme organized at Una for the Panchayat representatives of Gagret and Haroli blocks on Thursday. The Deputy Commissioner called upon all the Panchayat representatives to develop a deep understanding of the schemes so that maximum number of people can benefit from these and there can be a positive change in their lives.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the objective of this training is to make the Panchayat representatives aware of the schemes of the state government and the district administration, so that they can effectively implement these schemes at the ground level. During the training, the representatives were made aware of practical solutions to the problems faced in development works. Along with this, they were informed about the provisions of the POCSO Act and POSH Act, so that they can ensure the safety of children and women in their area.
In the program, the Deputy Commissioner also informed the Panchayat representatives about the Samarthya program run by the district administration, so that the children of poor families can achieve their goals by taking advantage of the scheme. Apart from this, Amla plants were distributed under the 'Ek Paudha Maa Ke Naam' campaign and the Panchayats were motivated to plant as many trees as possible for environmental protection.
The Deputy Commissioner also informed the Panchayat representatives about the 'Ujjwal Una' campaign of the District Administration to make Una district garbage free and called upon them to work together to ensure cleanliness and garbage free environment in the Panchayat areas. He also stressed on promoting sports events at the Panchayat level so that the energy of the youth can be used in the right direction while keeping them away from drug addiction.
District Panchayat Officer Neelam Katoch, District Program Officer Narendra Kumar, Tehsil Welfare Officer Jatinder Sharma, Dr. Baldev Dogra, and Panchayat representatives of Gagret and Haroli blocks were present in this workshop.
