Latest firing in Manipur: Retaliatory action forced terrorists to flee

Imphal, September 18- After a few days of peace, suspected militants opened fire in Mongbung Metei village of Jiribam district of Manipur. A police official said that the suspected militants fired several shots with their sophisticated weapons on Tuesday night and fled after retaliatory action by the armed volunteers of the village.

A police official said that the suspected militants fired several shots with their sophisticated weapons on Tuesday night and fled after retaliatory action by the armed volunteers of the village.
The officer said that no one was injured in the firing that lasted for half an hour. Meanwhile, the joint security forces have reached the area and launched a campaign to search for the terrorists.
It may be mentioned that security has been tightened in some districts after several incidents of violence in different districts between September 1 and 7, in which 20 people were injured and 12 including two women died.
