Hoshiarpur - The matter of illegally closing the culvert built for draining rain water near Shimla Pahari Park Tanda came to the notice of Municipal Council Tanda, on which immediate action was taken by the Municipal Council. Executive Officer (EO) of Municipal Council said that there is an old culvert for drainage of rain water near Shimla Pahari Park, which is very important for proper drainage of water during rains. Recently, the owner of the land next to the culvert tried to block it by putting soil on a part of the culvert during the night. When the matter came to the notice of the Municipal Council, the officials immediately reached the spot and stopped the work of putting soil.
After this incident, Tanda's SDM, Tehsildar, DSP, SDO Drainage Department officials and the Municipal Council team got together and inspected the spot. After inspection, JCB machine was used by Municipal Council to completely remove the soil deposited in front of the culvert and the culvert was completely cleaned. The executive officer said that this step of closing the culvert could have prevented the drainage of rainwater Which could have caused the problem of flooding in the area. He appealed to the people of the area to refrain from any such activity, which may cause damage to public property and to immediately report such activities to the Municipal Council.
