The Department of Gastroenterology, PGIMER, is organizing the 8th GI Conference on Gastrointestinal Emergencies from September 13 to 15, 2024. This national-level event will focus on the evidence-based management of gastrointestinal and liver emergencies. Sessions will cover a range of critical topics, including gastrointestinal bleeding, acute pancreatitis, and liver failure complications.

The Department of Gastroenterology, PGIMER, is organizing the 8th GI Conference on Gastrointestinal Emergencies from September 13 to 15, 2024. This national-level event will focus on the evidence-based management of gastrointestinal and liver emergencies. Sessions will cover a range of critical topics, including gastrointestinal bleeding, acute pancreatitis, and liver failure complications. Special attention will be given to emergencies like intestinal obstruction, inflammatory bowel disease, and corrosive ingestion. Prof Usha Dutta, Head of the Department and Organizing Chairperson, highlighted the need for such conferences to address the gap between first-contact doctors and experts in managing emergencies. The conference will feature distinguished speakers, including Prof Pratima Murthy and Dr. Naresh Bhat, offering insights into the management of complex cases. The hands-on session, scheduled for September 13, will provide practical training on models and real-life scenarios, ensuring that resident doctors and trainees enhance their skills in emergency care. A special session on point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) will also be held, aimed at improving the diagnostic and management capabilities of young physicians. The conference aims to equip participants with the latest knowledge and skills in managing gastrointestinal emergencies, contributing to improved patient outcomes.
