Improved well-being through community health initiatives and educational programs

UT Chandigarh, 10th September 2024:- The Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, UT Chandigarh organized the following Community Health Initiatives and Educational Events to enhance Well-being undertaken by under the Poshan Maah:-

UT Chandigarh, 10th September 2024:- The Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, UT Chandigarh organized the following Community Health Initiatives and Educational Events to enhance Well-being undertaken by under the Poshan Maah:-
1. Swasth Balak Balika Sperdha: An inspiring event was held at Indira Colony, Manimajra, where children and parents gathered to celebrate the recovery of children from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) to a normal health category. The event featured a lecture by Medical Officer on the prevention of anemia, providing valuable insights into maintaining nutritional health.
2. AYUSH Principles Lecture at Anganwadi Centre, Sector 24: Dr. Anu Garg conducted an enlightening lecture on the principles of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) at the Anganwadi Centre in Sector 24. The session covered the holistic benefits of AYUSH practices, including the significance of yoga for both physical and mental well-being. Attendees learned practical yoga poses and breathing techniques, receiving positive feedback for the initiative to integrate AYUSH and yoga into daily life.
3. Breastfeeding & Complementary Feeding Lecture: At RC Dhanas-II, a lecture focused on breastfeeding and complementary feeding was organized, led by a dedicated Medical Officer. The session aimed to educate parents on best practices for infant nutrition and the importance of proper feeding techniques to ensure healthy growth.
4. Growth Monitoring Across Anganwadi Centres: Growth monitoring activities were conducted at all 450 Anganwadi Centres, underscoring the commitment to tracking and supporting the development of children enrolled under ICDS.
5. Comprehensive Health Education Sessions: A series of lectures were organized addressing critical topics such as diet during pregnancy, the importance of girls' education, immunization, anemia prevention, complementary feeding, exclusive breastfeeding, and the use of AYUSH principles. These sessions aimed to equip community members with essential knowledge for better health management.
6. Home Visits and Awareness Campaigns: All 450 Anganwadi Centres undertook home visits to raise awareness about the need for Vitamin-A doses in children, complementary feeding practices, and the management of SAM and MAM children. These visits played a crucial role in reinforcing health practices and providing support to families.
