Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 5 September 2024:- The Women and Child Development Department celebrates the Nutrition Month every year from 1st to 30th September in the month of September. This year the seventh Nutrition Month is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in Punjab. With the aim of making women and children physically strong and making them aware about balanced diet, a block level program was organized on the occasion of Nutrition Month, 2024 under the Nutrition Campaign today on 05-09-2024 under the leadership of Mrs. Shena Aggarwal Director, Social Protection Department, Women and Child Development, Punjab.
During this, Mrs. Preeti Pant, (Joint Secretary), Mr. Manoj Prabhat (Under Secretary) and Preeta Chauhan (Advisor) from the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India were specially present. And the Anganwadi Center of village Jhiurheri was visited. District Program Officer Mr. Gagandeep Singh shared information about the services provided by the department to the beneficiaries with the Government of India team.
Under the Poshan Abhiyaan, pregnant women were given baby showers during the Poshan Maah and the importance of starting complementary food to children above 6 months was explained and food was served to the children in the program.
Besides, Child Development Project Officer, Block Kharar-2, Ms. Gursimran Kaur shared information about low cost household items from which nutritious food can be prepared and Anganwadi workers prepared low cost home made food.
District Coordinator (Poshan Abhiyaan) Ms. Hardeepam shared information about various activities conducted in 650 Anganwadi Centres of the district during Poshan Maah.
Deputy Director Mr. Sukhdeep Singh, Mr. Amarjit Singh, Mrs. Sumandeep Kaur, Principal of Government Primary Smart School Jhiurheri, supervisors working under Block Kharar-2, Block Coordinator Poshan, Anganwadi Workers/Helpers and beneficiaries availing the benefits of schemes from the Department Headquarters were present on the occasion.
