
Planted 1000 saplings under 'Green Earth Clean Environment' campaign
Jalandhar - As an effort to keep the environment clean, one thousand saplings were planted today under the 'Green Earth Clean Environment' campaign by the Punjab Pollution Control Board with the support of DAV University. After planting saplings in the university campus here, Punjab Pollution Control Board Chief Environmental Engineer Dr. Karunesh Garg said that trees are very important for the purity and preservation of the environment as they are a source of oxygen and play a major role in reducing air pollution.

After planting saplings in the university campus here, Punjab Pollution Control Board Chief Environmental Engineer Dr. Karunesh Garg said that trees are very important for the purity and preservation of the environment as they are a source of oxygen and play a major role in reducing air pollution.
He said that the environment can be made pollution free only by planting more trees. He said that just as the development of industry, roads and buildings is necessary in the society, planting and maintaining them is also necessary. Urging the city residents to plant at least 4 saplings during this monsoon season, Dr. Garg said that this season is the most suitable for planting saplings.
He said that in order to make the city green, every citizen should ensure their maintenance along with planting saplings. He also appreciated the efforts being made by DAV University to preserve the environment. Senior Environmental Engineer Vijay Kumar, Environmental Engineer Sandeep Kumar, Engineer Satyajit Attri, Vice Chancellor of DAV University etc. were also present on this occasion.
