Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 28 (Paigam-e-Jagat)- A rape case has been registered against Malayalam actor Siddique following allegations by an actress. The victim alleged that she was sexually assaulted in 2016. Police said that an FIR has been registered against the actor under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation). The case was registered under IPC as the crime allegedly took place in 2016. This is the second FIR against a film personality after allegations of sexual harassment were made against various directors and actors following revelations in the Justice Hema Committee report. The first case was registered against director Ranjith under Section 354 of IPC on the complaint of a West Bengal actress regarding the incident that took place in 2009. Siddique also resigned from the post of General Secretary of Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) following the allegations against him.
