
Photo not mandatory on registration form for female Sikh applicants to make SGPC vote: District Election Officer
Hoshiarpur - District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur Komal Mittal said that for Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (Board) elections, it was mandatory for all eligible Sikh voters to attach photographs in the registration forms. He said that now by amending the letter issued by the Chief Commissioner Gurdwara Elections Punjab, it has been decided that it will be optional for the eligible Sikh women voters to attach a photograph.
Hoshiarpur - District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur Komal Mittal said that for Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (Board) elections, it was mandatory for all eligible Sikh voters to attach photographs in the registration forms. He said that now by amending the letter issued by the Chief Commissioner Gurdwara Elections Punjab, it has been decided that it will be optional for the eligible Sikh women voters to attach a photograph.
The District Election Officer informed that the work of voter registration as part of the process of preparation of voter list in the Gurdwara Board Constituency on behalf of the Chief Commissioner Gurdwara Elections which was going on continuously from 21st October 2023 to 31st July 2024, which is now till 16th September. will continue He said that according to the latest schedule, the work of preparation and printing of voter lists will be done from 17 September 2024 to 8 October 2024. After this, the voter lists will be published on 9 October 2024.
He said that the last date for receiving claims and objections will be 29 October 2024. He said that by November 8, 2024, claims and objections will be removed as per Rule No. 10 (3) of Sikh Gurdwara Board Elections 1959. Thereafter, the supplementary lists will be prepared and printed on 25 November 2024. He also informed that the final publication of the Shiromani Parbandhak Committee election lists will be done on 26 November 2024. The Deputy Commissioner has received claims from applicants for constituencies for Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (Board) elections in the constituency in exercise of the powers vested under the Sikh Gurdwara Election Rules, 1959, as amended from time to time.
