Una, August 24 - Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal has directed the Indian Oil Corporation Limited management to properly maintain their petroleum pipeline site located at Humm Khad in Bathari. He issued an order on Saturday asking the IOC management to take immediate corrective measures to prevent any immediate danger until the pipeline is permanently repaired.
It is worth noting that one of the possible reasons for the flood in Bathari due to heavy rains on August 11 is the blockage of rainwater from the petroleum pipeline site located at Humm Khad. In such a situation, there is a possibility of the pipeline getting damaged in case of further rain, due to which there may be leakage or explosion in the petroleum pipeline. In such a situation, keeping in mind the overall safety of the people, the Deputy Commissioner has asked the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to take immediate and effective measures to solve this problem. They have been asked to inspect and conduct a comprehensive investigation of the pipeline site and identify the root cause of the blockage of rainwater. Along with this, they have been directed to give a detailed report of the steps taken and findings for preventive measures to the district administration within 7 days.
According to the order issued, the IOC management has been asked to take immediate corrective measures for the uninterrupted flow of rainwater and take long-term measures to prevent such incidents in future. They have also been instructed to assess the damage caused to the pipeline and give the minimum time frame for completion of the necessary repair work.
