The Deputy Commissioner was presiding over the meeting of the District Quality Assurance Committee and District Award Committee on Saturday. He motivated the health department officials to make Una district a leader in the state in the health sector with the best performance and asked them to make targeted efforts to come first in the Kayakalp Award Scheme.

Jatin Lal said that the objective of the Kayakalp Award Scheme is to promote hygiene, cleanliness and infection control practices in public health facilities. Under this, the parameters on which the performance of health facilities is judged include hospital maintenance, hygiene and cleanliness, waste management, infection control, ancillary services, hygiene promotion, and work done beyond the boundary of the hospital. He also informed that the district has received Rs 18.60 lakh this year on the basis of excellent performance in the Kayakalp scheme, which will be spent on qualitative improvement in health services.
8 points of National Quality Assurance Standards
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) have been developed keeping in mind the specific needs of public health facilities and global best practices. It is mainly evaluated on the basis of 8 points - service provision, patient rights, inputs, ancillary services, clinical care, infection control, quality management, and results.
Civil Hospital Haroli and Amb Quality Certified
He informed that Civil Hospital Haroli and Civil Hospital Amb of Una district have recently achieved the excellent achievement of becoming Quality Certified under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS). These institutions were inspected under NQAS and were rated as the best in the evaluation. Civil Hospital Haroli has secured first place in the country in the sub-division level category by scoring 95.44 percent.
The Deputy Commissioner also motivated all other health institutions to bring quality improvement on the same lines and prepare for certification.
District Council President Neelam Kumari, CMO Dr. Sanjeev Verma, Medical Superintendent Dr. Sanjay Mankotia, Health Medical Officer Dr. Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu, Dr. Raman Sandal and other officials were also present in the meeting.
