On the invitation of Upkar Society, students made paintings against drugs.

Nawanshahr :- Students of Baba Wazir Singh Khalsa Sr. Secondary School made special awareness paintings against drug abuse on the invitation of local "Upkar Coordination Society" which was judged by a panel of judges consisting of Sukhwinder Singh Thandi, Parwinder Singh Jasomajra, Amarjit Singh Khalsa, Narenderpal, Birbal Takhi.

According to the results, Tanisha Kanth got first place in class 12th, Shanu got second place in class 12th, Birjesh got third place in class 6th and Manjeet Ram got fourth place. On this occasion, Pooja, Ram, Bimal, Shanu and Brijesh presented awareness songs and poems. Jasvir Singh Principal, Param Singh Khalsa, JS Gidda, Surjit Kaur Dulku, Parwinder Singh Jasomajra, Harbans Kaur, Des Raj Bali, Gurcharan Singh Basialla, Ramandeep Singh Thiada, Narinderpal, Birbal Takhi, Amarjit Singh Khalsa, Vasdev Pradeshi, Simranjit Takhi and on behalf of the staff, Principal Jasvir Singh, Shama Mallan, Sukhjinder Singh, Surjit Kaur, Sandeep Kaur, Kamal and Riya participated.
Addressing the students, JS Gidda, Param Singh Khalsa, Parwinder Singh Jasomajra, Gurcharan Singh Basialla, Des Raj Bali, Ramandeep Singh Thiada and Narinderpal said that at present, the evil of drug abuse has become a big challenge for Punjab, drug abuse has become the root cause of many social problems. Domestic violence, theft, robbery, immoral incidents, rape of young women, robbery and snatching etc. are based on the abundance of drugs. People associated with social security are worried about the violence against women and many such incidents due to which daily work is getting affected.
The speakers warned the students against the evil of drug addiction. On behalf of Upkar Society, certificates and gifts were given to the students who got first four places in painting. Apart from this, students who presented songs and poems were awarded and certificates were distributed to all the contestants. Principal Jasvir Singh expressed his gratitude to Upkar Society and the special guests.
