Hoshiarpur - About a month ago, on behalf of Rotary Eye Bank and Cornea Transplant Society, under the leadership of the head of the society and famous social worker Sanjeev Arora, the officers and members of the society met former Rajya Sabha member Avinash Rai Khanna and gave him a memorandum that when the doctor removes the cornea from the dead body, then the cornea is kept in Cornisol liquid to keep it in useable condition.
After this, when the doctor reaches the eye bank with the cornea, then for preservation it is kept in MK medium liquid so that these corneas can be preserved for 12 days. In this regard, he was told that 18 percent GST has been imposed by the Central Government on both these liquids. Which is an unnecessary burden for this sacred work. After this, Mr. Khanna has written a letter to the Union Finance Minister Hon. Nirmala Sita Raman and requested to remove GST.
On which the Hon. Finance Minister considered seriously and issued orders to remove GST. In which there is a wave of happiness among the people running Cornea Transplant Society and Eye Bank across the country because the society performs free operations for the needy people with the help of people so that they can also see this beautiful world. On this occasion, President Sanjeev Arora and JB Bahl said that the society has so far done free cornea transplant for more than 4100 needy people and after the death of 24 people, their bodies have been sent to various colleges.
Mr. Arora said that the society is grateful to Union Finance Minister Hon'ble Nirmala Sita Raman and Mr. Khanna for the success achieved today in this noble work with the help of Mr. Avinash Roy Khanna. Mr. Khanna was also honored on this occasion. Dr. Jameel Bali, Madan Lal Mahajan, Jasvir Kanwar, Veena Chopra and Gopi Chand Kapoor were present on this occasion.
