Una, August 23 - Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal has provided Rs 80,000 as financial assistance to the families of the victims of the Jaijon accident on behalf of the District Red Cross Society. He provided Rs 20,000 each to the four families affected by the accident on behalf of the Red Cross. On Friday, the Deputy Commissioner handed over the relief amount cheques to the Naib Tehsildar and directed him to hand over these cheques to the relatives of the deceased at their homes.

At the same time, Jatin Lal has written a letter to the DC of Hoshiarpur requesting to provide relief amount to the victim families as soon as possible in accordance with the relief manual. Let us tell you, on August 11, 11 people died after a vehicle was swept away in the flood near Jaijon village (Himachal-Punjab border). The deceased were residents of Dehlan and Bhatoli Kalan of Una. They were all relatives and were going to attend a wedding ceremony. Jaijon area falls under Hoshiarpur district of Punjab, so the post-mortem was also done in Hoshiarpur and only after that the bodies were brought to Una. Since this accident happened in the border of Punjab state, relief amount will be given to the victim families by the Punjab government under the relief manual. In this context, Jatin Lal has requested DC Hoshiarpur to provide relief amount soon.
