PGIMER to Host 37th Convocation on August 10, Celebrating Academic Excellence

PGIMER Chandigarh is set to hold its 37th Annual Convocation on August 10th, where 80 graduates will receive medals for academic excellence, and 508 graduates will be awarded degrees. This significant event will be graced by Hon’ble Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of India, making it a momentous occasion as it marks the first time a Chief Justice of India will attend PGIMER's convocation.

PGIMER Chandigarh is set to hold its 37th Annual Convocation on August 10th, where 80 graduates will receive medals for academic excellence, and 508 graduates will be awarded degrees. This significant event will be graced by Hon’ble Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of India, making it a momentous occasion as it marks the first time a Chief Justice of India will attend PGIMER's convocation.
Highlighting PGIMER's achievements, Director Prof. Vivek Lal emphasized the institution's commitment to healthcare excellence. PGIMER has served approximately 1,20,000 patients under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, the highest among Union Territories, providing critical treatments like cancer therapy, neurosurgery, and kidney transplants. In 2023 alone, PGIMER performed a record 326 kidney transplants.
The Director also detailed other key initiatives, such as the extensive telemedicine services provided by the Department of Telemedicine, which have significantly improved patient access to specialized care, saving patients substantial travel costs. Additionally, the Tele Evidence facility, in collaboration with e-Courts, has resolved over 9,000 medicolegal cases, saving time and resources.
PGIMER has also launched Project Sarathi, involving 70 NSS volunteers to assist with hospital operations and patient care, enhancing both healthcare delivery and the volunteer experience. In research, PGIMER continues to make strides with significant extramural grants and collaborations with global institutions, with 19 patents granted and 20 pending.
The 37th Convocation will celebrate the achievements of 80 medal recipients and 508 graduates, marking their successful completion of rigorous medical training and education in various disciplines.
