PGIMER Chandigarh Transport Department Organizes Successful Blood Donation Camp

The Transport Department of PGIMER Chandigarh, in collaboration with the PGIMER Driver Welfare Association, organized a highly successful blood donation camp, collecting 71 units of blood. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Vivek Lal, Director of PGIMER, who served as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by prominent figures, including Mr. Pankaj Rai, Deputy Director Administration; Prof.Ashok Kumar, Additional Medical Superintendent; Dr.Navneet Dhaliwal, Additional Professor, Department of Hospital Administration; and Mr.N.K.Prarthi, Technical Officer of the Transport Section.

Dr.Lal praised the efforts of the organizing committee, highlighting the critical role of blood donation in saving lives. He acknowledged the enthusiasm and participation from the community, which made the event a success. Mr. Rai expressed his appreciation for the donors and organizers, noting that each unit of blood donated would provide essential support to those in need. He encouraged continued participation in such noble causes.
Prof. Kumar emphasized the medical importance of regular blood donations, which help maintain a steady supply of blood in hospitals. He thanked the donors for their generous contributions, underscoring the positive impact on patient care. Mr. Prarthi commended the PGIMER Driver Welfare Association for their hard work and dedication in organizing the camp, setting a positive example for others to follow.
In addition to the blood donation camp, ROTTO (Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization) organized a parallel camp to promote organ donation. This initiative saw 23 individuals pledging to donate their organs, further supporting the cause of saving lives through organ transplantation.
The dignitaries lauded the dual efforts of organizing both blood and organ donation camps, highlighting the seamless collaboration between the Transport Department and ROTTO. This event exemplified PGIMER's holistic approach to healthcare and community service, showcasing their commitment to saving lives and improving community health.
