Una, July 30 - Under the Chief Minister Sukh Ashray Yojana in Una district, social security amount of Rs 67.54 lakh has been provided to 286 beneficiary children as the first installment of Rs 4,000 each in the first half of the year 2024. This amount has been given to orphan children between 18 to 27 years for the period from April to September 2024. This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal.

Una, July 30 - Under the Chief Minister Sukh Ashray Yojana in Una district, social security amount of Rs 67.54 lakh has been provided to 286 beneficiary children as the first installment of Rs 4,000 each in the first half of the year 2024. This amount has been given to orphan children between 18 to 27 years for the period from April to September 2024. This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal. He was presiding over the District Child Welfare and Protection Committee on Tuesday.
He informed that apart from this, under the Mukhyamantri Sukh Ashray Yojana, an amount of more than Rs 20.48 lakh has been provided in 31 cases so far this year to assist in education, skill development, self-employment and self-reliance of the beneficiary children in the district. At the same time, in the financial year 2023-24, about Rs 36 lakh has been provided in 155 cases under the sponsor scheme and after care scheme under Mission Vatsalya.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officials to take full care of the safety and facilities of the children living in the special home located in Samurkalan. In the meeting, the work done in the direction of child welfare and protection in the district was reviewed.
Government became a support for the destitute
Jatin Lal said that the state government has taken the responsibility of taking care of orphan children till the age of 27 years through the Chief Minister Sukh Ashray Yojana. Chief Minister Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has a special emphasis on the fact that the government should become the support of the destitute. For this, a law has been made and 6000 orphan children of the state have been given the status of Children of the State. Orphan children are being provided clothing allowance and allowance for celebrating festivals. Along with their higher education, living expenses, pocket money of Rs 4000 every month is also being provided by the state government. Their health care is being taken. Efforts are also being made to get the children admitted in reputed schools. Along with this, the government has also made a provision of 3 biswa land and financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh to make them self-reliant and build a house.
39 cases came on child helpline
The Deputy Commissioner said that in the three-month period from April to June, a total of 39 cases were received on child helpline numbers 1098 and 112 in the district, on which immediate action was taken. Of these, 11 cases were received in April, 10 in May and 18 in June. Among the cases received, 7 cases of child labour, 3 of child begging, 1 of child marriage, 1 of missing person, 4 of child health problem and 5 cases of shelter request, along with other cases related to the safety and welfare of children were received.
District Child Protection Officer Kamaldeep conducted the proceedings of the meeting. In the meeting, District Legal Services Authority Secretary Anita Sharma, ASP Sanjeev Bhatia, Credit Planning Officer Sanjay Sankhyan, District Sports and Youth Affairs Officer Uttam Dod, Tehsil Welfare Officer Jitendra Kumar, CWC Chairperson Meenakshi Rana and other government and non-government members gave valuable suggestions regarding systemic reforms for child protection and welfare.
