Patiala, July 23 - Patiala Municipal Corporation launched a special campaign to make the city plastic free on July 23 and 24. Informing about this campaign, Patiala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Aditya Dechalwal said that the purpose of this campaign is to make the city plastic free. He said that challans are also being cut continuously by Municipal Corporation Patiala to get rid of plastic. Under this campaign, all the sanitary inspectors are cleaning the plastic pollution of roads and streets by forming special teams in their respective areas. Today the drive was conducted near Leela Bhavan, Chhoti Barandri and Snoori Adda and huge amount of plastic was collected. The collected plastic was transported to MRF centers of Municipal Corporation Patiala for recycling. In view of this campaign, Dechalwal appealed to the citizens and social organizations of the city to support the Patiala Municipal Corporation in this campaign. He said that there is a need for citizens not to throw garbage in the open and to run a clean campaign together. On the first day today, under this campaign, about 300 kilos of waste was delivered to the Focal Point MRF Center. The aim of the campaign is to spread awareness among the citizens about cleanliness and reduce the use of plastic. Therefore, Municipal Corporation Patiala will organize awareness camps in every neighborhood and organize various programs related to cleanliness in schools, colleges, and markets.
To make this campaign a success, different teams of sanitary inspectors have been formed by Municipal Corporation Patiala who will help in collecting plastic together with social organizations and the entire city residents.
