The Cardiac Anaesthesia Division of the Department of Anesthesia & Intensive Care at PGI organized a unique workshop on Hemodynamic Monitoring in Neonates.
Held as part of the 3rd National Conference of the Neonatal Anesthesia Society, the workshop was spearheaded by Prof. Banashree Mandal (Organizing Secretary) under the guidance of Prof. Bhupesh Kumar (In-Charge, Cardiac Anesthesia & Intensive Care).
The workshop, hosted at the Advanced Cardiac Center, PGI, focused on hemodynamic monitoring for critically ill neonates. Topics covered included stabilization techniques for neonates undergoing surgery for congenital defects, such as tracheoesophageal fistula and congenital diaphragmatic hernia, as well as those with congenital cardiac issues like patent ductus arteriosus and ventricular septal defect.
The faculty included experts from PGIMER, Chandigarh: Dr. Shiv Sajan Saini (Neonatology), Dr. Suresh Angurana (Pediatric Critical Care), Dr. Shivani (Pediatric Surgery), Dr. Parag (Cardiology), and members of the Cardiac Anaesthesia division (Dr. Sunder Negi, Dr. Indranil Biswas, Dr. Kulbhushan Saini, Dr. Rajarajan, Dr. KP Gaurav, Dr. Ira Dhavan) and Pediatric Anesthesia (Dr. Akriti). Delegates from across the country engaged in learning through transthoracic echocardiography and interactive PBLD stations.
Prof. RK Ratho, Dean Academics at PGIMER, proposed that such workshops could pave the way for specialized short programs, enhancing training in hemodynamic management and contributing to national capacity building.
