
A two-day workshop on better disaster management concluded in Una district

Una, July 20- The two-day workshop organized by District Disaster Management in DRDA auditorium Una concluded on Saturday. Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar presided over the closing session of the workshop. He said that emphasis was laid on government and non-government organizations working in coordination for better management and relief-rescue operations during disasters. He said that local people as well as local non-government organizations play an important role during disasters. Their cooperation helps in carrying out relief and rescue operations in a better and effective manner along with the conditions there and their experience.
In the workshop, various aspects of disaster risk management, standards of humanitarian assistance and humanitarian principles and assessment of immediate requirements for post-disaster relief and rescue were also discussed in detail. During this, online applications for collecting correct data after a disaster were also discussed so that relief and rescue operations can be carried out easily on the basis of correct data at the time of a disaster.
On the second day of the workshop, the inter-agency group of government and non-government organizations was reorganized in which Red Cross, Fire, Home Guard, NCC, DPRO and IRBN Bangarh were made members of the core group from government organizations. Whereas from non-government organizations, Jasvir Singh, Secretary of Ek Mauka Ek Umeed Sanstha was elected as the convener of the inter-agency group and Human Rights Protection Cell and Welfare Association, Rishit Foundation, Ankur Welfare Association, Navjyoti Youth Welfare Society and Ekal Nari Krishi Sahakari Sabha were made members of the core group. Apart from this, NGO Chintpurni Vikas Samiti Amb, Devbhoomi Foundation Una, Blood Lines and Social Welfare Committee Una were made members of the inter-agency and Akshay Sharma was made Aapda Mitra and Dinesh Jaswal Yuva Swayamsevak were made volunteers.
In the workshop, along with providing complete information on the legal framework and system of disaster management to the departmental officers and representatives of various non-governmental organizations, practical aspects were also discussed.
Suman Chahal, Training and Capacity Building Coordinator, District Disaster Management Authority, Una, conducted the workshop.
On this occasion, Assistant Commandant Anil Patial from 1st IRBn Bangarh and other officers were present.
