Amazon Launches New Features in Local Shops Program Ahead of Prime Day

Amazon India has introduced new features in its Local Shops program to enhance seller onboarding and customer experience.

Amazon India has introduced new features in its Local Shops program to enhance seller onboarding and customer experience. These upgrades come just in time for the 8th Amazon Prime Day on July 20 and 21, 2024, enabling over 3,500 local shop sellers in Punjab to expand and maintain their businesses in categories like home and kitchen products, apparel, home decor, furniture, health and personal care, toys, and industrial equipment.

The first feature simplifies the onboarding process with a 1-click opt-in option on the Amazon Seller Mobile App. Previously, sellers had to enroll via desktops on Seller Central, but now new sellers across India can join the program through their mobile app, ensuring two-day delivery within their cities. This feature is also available for sellers who previously opted out and now wish to rejoin the program.

The second enhancement improves the seller storefront on the Amazon.in mobile app, allowing sellers to display their location and share their storefront on social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. This update helps drive traffic to their stores. Customers can easily find and purchase products from local stores, share their favorite stores, and discover unique local shops on Amazon. The storefront dynamically curates selections for each customer, categorizing products into Recommended, Latest Arrivals, and Best Sellers. Sellers can customize their shop name, location, and business logo, and even display a QR code in their physical store to link directly to their online page.

Abhishek Jain, Head of Amazon Local Shops in India, expressed excitement about these updates, highlighting their potential to digitize and empower small and medium-sized enterprises. Ashish Sahni, owner of Lookravish, shared his positive experience with the program, noting a 300% annual sales increase and the significant role online sales now play in his business.
