Additional Deputy Commissioners said that the rainy season is most suitable for planting saplings And a campaign to plant 11 lakh saplings is being conducted in the district during this season, under which public places including schools, colleges, grain markets, hospitals, village fairs and around ponds are being selected. He said that social service organizations and school students are also being included in this campaign. He said that small forests are being established in the district with Miyawaki technique, with which more saplings can be planted in less area. On this occasion, Forest Range Officer Swaran Singh, giving technical information about planting saplings, said that while digging a pit for saplings, a spade should be used and the size of the pit should be one and a half feet wide and ten feet deep, and then the pit should be half filled with soil. This will provide soft soil for the plant to take root and the plant will grow quickly. He said that along with planting saplings, its maintenance is equally important, so special attention should be paid to the maintenance of planted saplings. Senior officials of all departments including SDM Nabha Tarsem Chand were also present in the meeting.
