
PGIMER to Celebrate 61st Foundation Day on July 8, 2024
The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, is set to celebrate its 61st Foundation Day on July 8, 2024, marking sixty-one years of excellence. Distinguished PGI alumnus Lt. Gen. Daljit Singh, DGAFMS & Sr. Col. Commandant AMC, will be the Chief Guest. Recognized for his exceptional service with the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM), Lt. Gen. Singh has significantly contributed to military medicine and neonatology. He holds an MD in Paediatrics from Pune University and PGIMER, and a DNB in Paediatrics.

Lt. Gen. Singh will deliver an address on “PGI, AFMS and the Indian Nation” at 8:00 AM in Bhargava Auditorium.
Founded in 1962 and inaugurated in 1963 by Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, PGIMER was declared an “Institute of National Importance” in 1967. With 728 faculty members and around 1300 resident doctors, PGIMER offers 24 postgraduate courses, 40 super-specialty courses, and numerous PhD and paramedical courses.
