At approximately 10.25 PM(on the night on 25th June 2024), Fire Control Room received a distress call reporting a fire outbreak in room no.401, Kairon Block Hostel. Fire and security personnel promptly responded to the call. Upon entry, they discovered a burning mattress and dense smoke filling the room.
The fire and security personnel took immediate action in controlling and extinguishing the fire using fire extinguishers and water.
Some personal belongings of the resident got damaged in this incident. The preliminary investigation suggests that the fire may have been caused by an electrical equipment left unattended in the room.
PGI authority has directed Fire department to inspect & reinforce the safety protocols to prevent any potential hazards.
