From June 25 to July 8, 2024, PGIMER Chandigarh will host a two-week International Public Health Management Development Program, organized by the Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health. The program will feature 38 healthcare professionals from 20 countries, including Burundi, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nepal, and Argentina, who will learn public health management and leadership practices to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since 2016, over 1,300 participants from 87 countries have benefited from this program.
This initiative enhances South-South development cooperation, embodying the Indian philosophy of 'Vasudeva Kutumbakam' or 'the world is one family,' according to Dr. Sonu Goel, Program Director. Faculty include Dr. Shankar Prinja, Dr. Mahesh Devnani, and others.
Participants will also go on a study tour to Shimla, visiting health centers and observing advanced patient care services. The program includes diverse learning methods like case studies, games, and role plays. A cultural event on July 1 in Shimla will foster peer learning and networking. The course concludes on July 8 with a Valedictory ceremony, awarding the best participants. Participants will then develop and submit an Action Plan Implementation Report, with the best report receiving a reward from India's Ministry of External Affairs.
