Nawanshahr - Red Cross Drug Addiction and Rehabilitation Center Nawanshahr organized an awareness seminar on “International Day Against Drug Addiction and Illicit Trafficking” at Sandhu Institute of Nursing, Mahalon. The seminar was chaired by Manpreet Kaur (Principal).

This seminar was conducted as per the guidelines of Honorable Secretary Mr. Shivdular Singh Dhillon, Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab State Branch, Chandigarh and under the leadership of Mr. Chaman Singh (Project Director). The awareness campaign was conducted in conjunction with the fortnight of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26.
Mr. Chaman Singh (Project Director) addressed on this occasion and said that "International Day against Drug Addiction and Illicit Trafficking" is celebrated on June 26 every year. It reminds us of our commitment to rid the world of drug abuse. On this day, this resolution was passed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1987 And from June 26, 1989, this day was celebrated globally. He shed light on the history of the Red Cross in detail There are Red Cross activities that go in favor of humanity He also gave detailed information about them. While addressing the training, he said that you will also face similar challenges in life Which the nursing community has already accepted and learned from.
He referred to the physical, social, economic and mental problems caused by the use of drugs and appealed to them to do their due contribution. He called the nursing staff the daughters and sons of Bhai Ghanai. This makes your contribution even more important. That people who are addicted to drugs in the society, the youth are suffering from different types of diseases affect people they come in contact with. This is the reason why the incidents of robbery, theft, cheating, rape, divorce, etc. are increasing day by day in the society. Today we should do our part to save humanity. Drug trafficking which is going on unabated in an illegal manner Even though the police department is making a lot of efforts, until the people of the society do not participate in it and are not aware, then these problems will continue to remain in the same way.
He elaborated on the 2024 theme “The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention” and also said that we must create awareness among people. Stricter laws should be made. That can prevent professionals. One should seek cooperation by creating a dialogue with the common people. Policy should be formulated at national and international level. Different societies should be strengthened. Where the youth is to be empowered, this problem can be reduced and eliminated by involving the community.
On this occasion Mrs. Kamaljit Kaur (Councillor) while addressing the gathering informed the people about the facilities and activities of the center and said that we should take care of our children around us. So the evils found in the society can be avoided Keep the body healthy with a balanced diet which will also keep the mind healthy and if any youth is caught in this drug like disease then he should be encouraged to join Kedar for treatment. He gave detailed information about the treatment of patients at the center. He said that the main objective of today's seminar is to equip the youth with knowledge, skills and resources for the prevention of "International Anti-Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Day". That enables them to advocate for drug prevention initiatives.
On this occasion Pooj (lecturer) welcomed the Red Cross team. On this occasion, Sanamveer Kaur (lecturer) made the college students aware about drug addiction and thanked the staff of Red Cross De-addiction Center Nawanshahr. And assured that in the future they will be aware of nerves and implement the suggestions given by the Red Cross team in their lives. Miss Pooja (Asst.
