Patiala, May 30 - Campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections with drumbeats and microphone publicity was already running low. But that kind of propaganda ended this evening. In the order issued by the District Election Officer Shaukat Ahmed Pare, it has been said that in view of the votes to be held on June 1 and the number of these votes to be held on June 4, as per the provisions given in Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act 1951, the elections will be held on June 1. It has been said in the order that there is fear of disturbance of public peace and damage to government and non-government property due to the presence of these people during polling due to the presence of people from outside for campaigning. Therefore, there is a need to take appropriate steps to protect the life and property of the people including maintaining law and order, hence these orders have been passed unilaterally. District Election Officer Shaukat Ahmed Pare has issued a second order and declared a dry day after the evening of 30th.
