Nawanshahr - Kirti Kisan Union Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar considers water as the biggest issue. New and old governments have only been playing politics on it, and the new government is also following the same path. The said views were expressed by the District President of Kirti Kisan Union, District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Surinder Singh Bains.
Surinder Singh Bains said that Punjab is irrigating with canals, but this is not happening in reality at the ground level. Moghe dates back to 1947, we have been demanding for a long time that the underground water is getting depleted. But the governments are talking in the air and due to this we can consider the result of the government's performance to be zero. Surinder Singh Bains also appealed to the farmers to save the precious underground water for their future generations. He said that the farmers should not put any hindrance in the fields which need canal water, or may get it, priority should be given to letting the canals come out.
We should all put pressure on the government and canal department to improve it. He invited them to cultivate with canal water in the fields and save the underground water. They demanded that every farm, every house get canal water.
