
All departments should work in coordination to make diarrhea control campaign successful - Jatin Lal
Una, June 27 - Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal said that to make the diarrhea control campaign successful, all departments should ensure to work in mutual coordination. He said that targets have been set for all departments regarding the diarrhea control campaign, for the fulfillment of which all departments should work with full readiness on the ground. The Deputy Commissioner was chairing the district level task force meeting constituted for the diarrhea control campaign in the DRDA auditorium today.
Una, June 27 - Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal said that to make the diarrhea control campaign successful, all departments should ensure to work in mutual coordination. He said that targets have been set for all departments regarding the diarrhea control campaign, for the fulfillment of which all departments should work with full readiness on the ground. The Deputy Commissioner was chairing the district level task force meeting constituted for the diarrhea control campaign in the DRDA auditorium today.
He said that under the diarrhea prevention campaign, in order to ensure that no child in the age group of 0 to 5 years is affected in the district, the Health and Family Welfare Department as well as the Women and Child Development and Education Departments should pay special attention to public awareness. He stressed upon the Women and Child Development Department to make the parents of the children aware through Anganwadi centers and also the children at the school level. He stressed upon the Education Department to teach the technique of hand washing at the school level and to make people aware about the protective steps to be adopted in case of diarrhea. Apart from this, he also stressed on the need to make parents aware through teachers.
The Deputy Commissioner said that during the diarrhea control campaign, all the departments of the District Task Force should ensure that no case of diarrhea is reported in the district. He also emphasized on the need to create awareness about other diseases caused by diarrhea. He also directed the Jal Shakti Department to maintain the quality of drinking water and ensure timely cleaning of all drinking water sources and tanks etc. Apart from this, he also emphasized on chlorination of drinking water sources.
Jatin Lal, quoting departmental officials, said that during the diarrhea control campaign, two ORS packets and 14 zinc tablets will be made available to children below 5 years of age through Anganwadi and Asha workers. ORS Zinc corners will be set up in all private and government health institutions of the district through which people will be made aware about diarrhea.
There are 39,205 children below 5 years of age in the district
Under the diarrhea control campaign in the district, a total of 39,205 children below the age of 5 years have been identified. These include 6,328 children in Amb health block, 7,665 in Gagret, 7,937 in Haroli, 5,190 in Thanakalan and 12,085 children in Basdehra health block which also includes the area hospital.
Apart from this, the Deputy Commissioner also chaired a review meeting on family planning, climate change and human health and issued necessary guidelines to the concerned departments to achieve the set targets.
On this occasion, CMO Dr. Sanjeev Verma along with officers from various departments of the task force were present.
