He was addressing the officials related to disaster management called for table top exercise before the mega mock drill on June 14 in the NIC video conference auditorium on Wednesday. Let us tell you, in order to organize the mega mock drill, the officials of the National Disaster Management Authority and the State Disaster Management Authority held a workshop for table top exercise through video conference on Wednesday. Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena also participated in it in Shimla. At the same time, in the NIC room of the Deputy Commissioner's office Una, officials of various stakeholder departments along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar participated in the table top exercise.
Every aspect of disaster management was discussed
In the meeting, every aspect related to disaster management was discussed in detail regarding the mega mock drill related to rain-flood-landslide on June 14. What is the plan for management in different situations of disaster, what steps should be taken as quick response, what responsibilities will different departments perform and what are the shortcomings and flaws, all these topics were discussed. The Additional Deputy Commissioner urged all the departments to take the mega mock drill seriously.
There will be a thorough assessment of preparedness and capabilities
Mahendra Pal Gurjar said that on June 14, a mega mock drill will be held in the entire state, and in the same sequence it will be organized in Una district as well. On this day, mock drills will be conducted at designated sites and institutions in the district by assuming symbolic damage due to rain-flood-landslides. In this, a thorough assessment and analysis of disaster management preparations and capabilities in the district will be done. He said that this will help in making the district disaster management plan more robust.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the main objective of the mega mock drill is to test the effectiveness of the disaster response plan, so that shortcomings can be identified and corrected in time. Also, one of its objectives is to familiarize all the stakeholder departments and officials with the latest standard operating procedures and guidelines regarding disaster management.
Relief and rescue work will be done here on June 14
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that on receiving hypothetical information of flood-landslide from the state headquarters on Friday, June 14, mock drills will be conducted in each subdivision of the district by assuming symbolic damage due to rain-flood and landslide. He informed that on this day, mock drills will be conducted by assuming Tatehra village (near Swan river) of subdivision Gagret, Naloot village (Lathiani-Badsar road) of Bangana subdivision, Government Primary and Middle School Janani, Polian Beet under Haroli subdivision, Pindi Das Ashram and Eye Hospital Amb of Amb subdivision and Pekhubela of Indian Oil Corporation Limited Terminal of Una as the incident site. Apart from central agencies like Army, paramilitary forces, National Disaster Response Force, officers and employees of all departments related to disaster management of district and subdivisions will participate in it.
ASP Surendra Sharma, SDM Gagret Saumil Gautam, SDM Haroli Rajiv Thakur, DFO Sushil Rana and officers from various departments were present in the meeting.
