
Need to make every effort to stop the spread of dengue: DC Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa
Nawanshahr - Under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, an inter-sectoral meeting was held today for the prevention of dengue, chikungunya, malaria and other vector borne diseases under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program at District Administrative Complex, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
Nawanshahr - Under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, an inter-sectoral meeting was held today for the prevention of dengue, chikungunya, malaria and other vector borne diseases under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program at District Administrative Complex, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. In which apart from health department, representatives of various government departments including education department, city council, panchayat raj department participated.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa while instructing various departments including the health department in the meeting said that no case of dengue has been reported in the district so far. He said that every effort is needed to stop the spread of dengue. In view of the rainy season next month, all partner departments, including the health department, should be careful to prevent dengue. He directed that continuous survey, investigation and awareness activities should be carried out in the urban and rural areas of the district while intensifying the campaign for the prevention of dengue. 'Every Friday Dengue War' should be celebrated, whereby people should be made aware about cleaning coolers, refrigerator trays and pots once a week to prevent dengue so that mosquito larvae can be eliminated. Apart from this, water should not be allowed to accumulate in garbage, old tires, disposable cups, glasses, plates etc. lying on the roofs of houses, because the dengue mosquito can breed even in a small amount of water. He said that the next few months are very important in view of dengue, so the larvae should be checked from house to house. Gambujia fish should be released in ponds in cities and villages. He also instructed that maximum awareness campaigns should be conducted to make people aware for the prevention of vector borne diseases. Randhawa while instructing the municipal committees said that those houses/institutions where larvae are found more than once, should be fined.
On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jaspreet Kaur while giving information said that the health department is running activities to effectively control dengue in the district. The Civil Surgeon also appealed to the common people of the district to cooperate with the Health Department teams during house-to-house survey under dengue awareness campaign. He also appealed to the people that they should take out the water from the trays of coolers and refrigerators every week and dry them for use and not allow water to accumulate around their houses along with old garbage, tires etc. So that the dengue mosquito cannot breed.
On this occasion, District Epidemiologist Dr. Rakesh Pal gave detailed information regarding dengue awareness, prevention, treatment management. He said that with the change in weather, the risk of getting dengue increases, from which it is necessary to follow precautions. He said that people should be made aware that such clothes should be worn, with which the whole body is covered so that mosquitoes cannot bite.
At the end of the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa and Civil Surgeon Dr. Jaspreet Kaur and other officials also released an awareness poster for dengue prevention. On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (R) Rajeev Verma, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Sagar Setia, Assistant Commissioner General Gurleen Kaur and Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Balbir Kumar, officers and employees of various departments were present.
