132.11 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was purchased during Hadi season 2024-25: Harchand Singh Burst

SAS Nagar, June 3 - Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Mr. Harchand Singh Burst has said that the purchase of 132.11 lakh metric tons of wheat has been completed in the Mandis of Punjab during the Hadi season 2024-25. Giving information after the completion of wheat procurement in the markets, he said that compared to the previous year, where there has been an increase of 5 percent in the total procurement of wheat, there has also been an increase of 3 percent in the government procurement.
He said that due to the proper arrangements made in the markets during the season, the procurement operations could be carried out in an efficient manner and during this time the farmers, farmers and laborers did not face any kind of problem. He said that payments are being made to the farmers who have sold the crop, under which Rs 28,289.57 crore have been paid.
He said that during the Hadi season 2024-25, which lasted from April 1 to May 31, there has been a bumper arrival of wheat in the markets of Punjab and the purchase of the wheat reached in the markets has also been done more than ever. During the season, arrangements were made for cleanliness, potable water, electricity, shade for sitting and bathrooms etc. in the mandis.
Mr. Burst said that 1907 fixed markets as well as 826 RG procurement centers were announced by the Punjab Mandi Board for the purchase of wheat during the Hadi season. Out of which 132.11 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been purchased. Out of this, 124.56 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured by government agencies and 7.55 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured at the private level. 39,94,966 MT by Pangren, FCI 32,7,867 metric tonnes, 32,59,301 metric tonnes from Markfed, 29,80,297 metric tonnes from Pansap and 18,93,337 metric tonnes of wheat have been purchased from warehouse.
He said that the maximum arrival and purchase of wheat has taken place in Sangrur district of Punjab. There has been procurement of 12,40,685 metric tonnes of wheat, out of which 10,37,073 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured by the government and 20,3,612 metric tonnes of wheat by the private sector. 9,43,230 metric tons of wheat has been purchased at Sri Muktsar Sahib on the second number and 9,38,932 metric tons of wheat has been purchased at Patiala on the third number.
