Patiala, May 31 - 12 RG cloth shops located in Choti Barandri of Patiala were gutted by fire this afternoon. More than six fire brigade vehicles were used to extinguish the fire, which brought the fire under control after three hours of struggle. By then the shops and the clothes kept inside had burnt to ashes. Millions of rupees have been lost in this accident. It is being told that the fire started due to a short circuit in the electrical wires, but the real reason could not be ascertained.

Akali candidate NK Sharma said that the victims' families should be given compensation ranging from 50 thousand rupees to 1 lakh rupees.
