
Wake up now, give up drugs – Chaman Singh (Project Director)
Nawanshahr - On May 22, 2024, Red Cross Drug Addiction and Rehabilitation Center Nawanshahr organized an awareness camp under "Drug Free India Abhiyan" at Government Industrial Training Institute Nawanshahr (Punjab). Which was presided over by Mrs. Neelam Rani (Head Teacher).
Nawanshahr - On May 22, 2024, Red Cross Drug Addiction and Rehabilitation Center Nawanshahr organized an awareness camp under "Drug Free India Abhiyan" at Government Industrial Training Institute Nawanshahr (Punjab). Which was presided over by Mrs. Neelam Rani (Head Teacher).
On this occasion, Chaman Singh (Project Director) gave an address and said that the youth of Punjab are badly trapped in the nexus of drugs, while the history of Punjab is not like this. The land of Punjab has always given birth to brave warriors, but some People are putting the youth on the path of drugs for their own benefits. He said that the youth should be aware of drugs so that the incurable diseases caused by drugs can be avoided. Addiction alienates a person from society and family. The mental level of a person addicted to drugs falls to such an extent that he starts committing accidents like suicide while being away from each and every relationship. He informed the college student that many youths in the society have come under the influence of drugs. They should stay away from this type of youth. He also explained in detail about the problems encountered in student life. And said students should keep their focus on their goal.
He also appealed to the teachers of the college to keep the students aware about the addiction along with the college studies so that the students stay aware at the right time and stay away from bad habits like addiction. He also said that there are 19 districts of Punjab which are in red zone in which drugs are in huge quantity. He said that it is very surprising that Shaheed Bhagat Singh district is also one of them. He also gave many examples where boys have died due to taking excessive amount of drugs and HCV and H. I. Cases like this have also increased. He also told the children in detail about the problems faced in student life and said that if you face any kind of problem, first of all, you should contact your teacher or parents.
On this occasion Mrs. Kamaljit Kaur (Counselor) addressed the gathering and informed the students about the facilities and activities of the center and said that we should keep the body healthy with a balanced diet which will also keep the mind healthy and if any youth gets caught in a disease like drugs. If so, he should be encouraged to join Kedar for treatment. He gave detailed information about the treatment of patients at the center
On this occasion, student Harshdeep Kaur presented her views against drug addiction. He asked the present student to stay away from drugs and drugs are not the solution to any problem. And one can always stay away from addiction only by being aware of it. Mrs. Anjana Kumari made the student aware about drug addiction and thanked the team from Red Cross. Priyan, Sarabjit, Amandeep Kaur, Ranjit Kaur, Ranjana and college students were present on this occasion.
