Completion of Second Level Randomization of EVMs for Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency

Chandigarh,20th May,2024.In line with the Election Commission's commitment to conduct free and fair elections in the Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency, the second level randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) was successfully conducted today. The process was overseen by District Election Officer cum Returning Officer Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh, in the presence of General Observer Sh. S. S. Gill, and representatives of contesting candidates and political parties, at CCET, Sector-26. The entire process was recorded on video for transparency.

The process was overseen by District Election Officer cum Returning Officer Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh, in the presence of General Observer Sh. S. S. Gill, and representatives of contesting candidates and political parties, at CCET, Sector-26. The entire process was recorded on video for transparency. Using the Election Commission of India's (ECI) randomization software, a randomized list of EVMs, including Ballot Units, Control Units, and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs), was generated for allocation to respective polling stations. The list of randomized EVMs assigned to specific polling stations has been shared with candidates and their representatives to ensure complete transparency. Following the randomization, the pairing of Ballot Units, Control Units, and VVPATs was completed. The EVMs have now been securely stored in a strong room. Returning Officer Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh announced that the Ballot Papers for the Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency have been printed. The commissioning of EVMs will commence from 20th May onwards, under videographic surveillance and security cover, in the presence of candidates or their representatives to maintain transparency.
