According to the pre-planned program, this program was to be held in the pandal of Shri Ganesh Mahotsav Committee, but due to rain in the morning, the program was held in the Gurdwara Sahib of Phase 9 instead of the pandal. Meanwhile, Bhai Lakhwinder Singh Chandigarh Wale and Bhai Balwinder Singh Rangeela and other religious groups entertained the congregation with Gurbani after the recitation of Shri Sukhmani Sahib by the women's group.
During this program of the committee, former Member of Parliament Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, Akali leader Parvinder Singh Sohana, Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi and many dignitaries reached the Gurdwara Sahib and offered obeisance. Meanwhile, the organizers of the Sri Ganesh Mahotsav Committee honored all the ragi-kirtani jathas and dignitaries by giving siropa. On this occasion, unbreakable langar was installed for the devotees.
Late in the evening, the huge idol of Lord Shri Ganesha arrived in the area with full glory, which was warmly welcomed by the devotees. The idol of Lord Ganesha was brought with full pomp from the temple of Phase 11 to the pandal located in the market of Phase 9 in the evening, after which pooja was offered and the first day's events began. Meanwhile, after the hymn by Sri Vijay Ratan, a program was presented by Sultana Noora (Noora Sisters) which was thoroughly enjoyed by the devotees.
Mr. Ramesh Dutt, Patron of Shri Ganesh Mahotsav Committee said that Mrs. Shusma Sharma will start this evening after which first Yasir Hussain and then Poonam Didi will sing hymns at 10 pm.
He said that on September 19, Mr. Ajay Rana will begin, after which Bhajan Emperor Kanhaiya Mittal will entertain the devotees. On the same day, Mr. Mukesh Inaaat will also sing the praises. Bhajans will be recited by Mr. Maninder Chanchal in the morning on September 20. Rath Yatra will be taken out in the afternoon and the event will conclude after Sri Ganesh immersion.
