
Checking of school buses under the Safe School Vehicle Policy by the Regional Transport Officer
Patiala, April 20 - Regional Transport Officer Deepjot Kaur conducted surprise checking of school buses again today to strictly implement the Safe School Vehicle Policy keeping in mind the safety of school children. District Child Protection Officer Shaina Kapoor was also present with them.

Deepjot Kaur said that during the checking, 22 school vehicles/buses were challaned for not having CCTV cameras, first aid box and speed governor in buses with expired medicines in the first aid box. He said that such checking will continue continuously in future and appropriate action will be taken against all vehicles violating the instructions of the Safe School Vehicle Policy.
RTO Deepjot Kaur said that school buses have been checked on Sirhind Road today. He said that at the time of checking, he told the school staff and bus drivers that according to the policy, the color of school buses should be yellow. 'School Bus' should be written in front of the bus. Must wear driver's uniform and have heavy license. First aid box, fire extinguisher, CCTV cameras should be installed in the bus. Deepjot Kaur further said that if girls travel in the bus, there should be a lady attendant in the bus. Speed governor and stop sign should be installed. School bus drivers should not use mobile phones while driving the bus, nor should they drive school vehicles under the influence of drugs and should also ensure compliance with traffic rules.
