According to Election Commission data, 48 percent in Amritsar, 55.02 percent in Anandpur Sahib, 59.25 percent in Bathinda, 54.38 percent in Faridkot, 54.55 percent in Fatehgarh Sahib, 57.68 percent in Ferozepur, 58.34 percent in Gurdaspur, 52.39 percent in Hoshiarpur, 53.66 percent in Jalandhar. 55.90 percent voting was done in Khadur Sahib, 52.22 percent in Ludhiana, 58.18 percent in Patiala and 57.21 percent in Sangrur.
The Election Commission of India has made adequate security arrangements to conduct the Lok Sabha elections in the state in a transparent and fair manner. 70000 personnel of Punjab Police and Central Security Forces are deployed. According to the information received, 328 candidates are in the election fray for 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Out of this, 302 are male candidates and 26 are female candidates.
There are a total of 2,14,61,741 voters in the state, including 1,12,86,727 male, 1,01,74,241 female, 773 transgender, 1,58,718 PWD (disabled) and 1,614 NRI (non-resident Indian) voters. The number of first-time voters in the state is 5,38,715 and the number of voters aged 85 years and above is 1,89,855. 24,451 polling stations have been set up in the state, out of which 5694 polling stations have been declared sensitive.
