Hoshiarpur - District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman District Legal Services Authority Hoshiarpur Dilbagh Singh Johal visited Kedri Jail, Hoshiarpur today. CJM-cum-Secretary District Legal Services Authority Aparajita Joshi was also with him on this occasion. During this visit, he went to the women's barracks and listened to their problems and also briefed the inmates/prisoners in the jail about the quarterly meetings of the Under Trial Review Committees.
He said that the convicts/prisoners who fall under the categories of cases given in these under trial review committees, their cases will be sent to the respective courts after recommendation by the under trial review committees. Such as if a detainee has been granted bail and has not come out of jail, if an offense punishable by 2 years, if criminally compoundable under section 320 Cr.P.C., 436-A Cr.P.C., 436 Cr.P.C., mentally ill or In case of need for special medical treatment, etc., the accused will be referred by the Under Trial Review Committees to the Courts concerned for release from jail on bail. Jail Superintendent Baljit Singh Ghuman, Deputy Superintendent Amritpal Singh, Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel Vishal Kumar, Deputy Chief Rupika Thakur and jail officials were present on this occasion.
