Una, August 29 - The Una district administration has expanded the scope of the Samarthya program and included two new components in it. Under these new components, financial assistance of up to Rs 1 lakh will be provided to girls from poor families for preparing for NEET and UPSC examinations.

Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal, while launching these components on Thursday, said that this initiative will ensure that financial difficulties do not become an obstacle in preparing for NEET and UPSC. This step will help girls from poor families to prepare for high-level competitive examinations and will be helpful in realizing their dreams of becoming doctors and IAS-IPS.
Jatin Lal said on this occasion that the aim of the Samarthya program is to empower youth, women and various sections of society and encourage community development. Under the new initiative, girls from poor families who are preparing for NEET and UPSC will be given financial help. Those girls will be eligible to get the benefit, whose father has unfortunately passed away or is more than 70 percent disabled. They should be studying graduation and their family's annual income should not exceed 50 thousand and they should not have taken advantage of any other scheme. The age of eligible girls should not be more than 24 years and they should be permanent residents of Una district. Let us tell you, already, under the Samarthya program, the administration has made a provision of financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh for higher education to the girls of poor families and also help for the marriage of daughters.
The Deputy Commissioner has appealed to all the district residents to become partners in this initiative and provide financial support as per their capacity.
