Anganwadi centers opened for small innocent children turned out to be like slum dwellers: Soni, Lucky

The central and state governments are treating Anganwadi centers in Punjab carelessly. They have made them like orphans. Founder President of Adarsh Social Welfare Society Punjab, Satish Kumar Soni and Senior Vice President Lakhwinder Kumar said this during a press conference. He said that Anganwadi centers are being opened in villages and cities and Anganwadi workers are also being appointed. Earlier, Anganwadi workers were also appointed by the Bhagwant Mann government. Here there is talk of running ahead and leaving behind. New ones are being appointed but old workers are not being given place in Anganwadi centres. They are being treated like orphans.

Garhshankar The central and state governments are treating Anganwadi centers in Punjab carelessly. The example of Garhshankar is in front of us that there are only 13 Anganwadi centers in 13 wards whereas according to the population there should be 20 centres. Despite opening of 13 Anganwadi centres, no fixed place was provided by the state government. As per rules, wherever Anganwadi center is approved, land is first made available for it and its building. Grants are also approved as per requirement. After that Anganwadi workers are appointed but here the governments shoot arrows in the air. The condition of Anganwadi centers opened for small innocent children has been reduced to temporary accommodation. Neither the previous governments made any reforms, nor did the present government, which came with the help of Anganwadi workers and the public, take any steps to build Anganwadi centres. The point to think about is that what happened to the grants that were sanctioned for everything from land purchase to building construction and where did they go? Suspicions are being raised about a huge scam. There should be a high level investigation to find out where these funds went and who is responsible for the irregularities in it. When the team of Adarsh Social Society visited an Anganwadi center, it came to light that the state government has not even released the outstanding salaries of Anganwadi workers for the last six months. It is noteworthy that a part of the salary of Anganwadi workers is provided by the Central Government which is Rs 5500 and a part of the salary is provided by the State Government which is Rs 4500 per month. Since the month of March, almost six months' salary has not been released by the state government, due to which Anganwadi workers are facing difficulties for their daily needs. On one hand, despite not having a building, they are managing space on their own and the government is exploiting them by not releasing their salaries.
