Laos, August 31 – Indian Embassy in Laos has rescued 47 Indian nationals trapped in cyber scam centers. The embassy said 29 people were handed over to the embassy by Laos authorities following a crackdown on illegal activities in the Golden Triangle. After this, 18 other persons approached the embassy directly asking for help. In a post on X, the embassy said officials coordinated with local authorities to help the Indians and they were brought to Vientiane. So far 30 persons have reached India, while the remaining 17 are awaiting their travel arrangements. The embassy also thanked the Lao authorities for their cooperation and urged them to take action against those responsible for luring Indian nationals in such scams. 635 Indians have been rescued from such situations in Laos, who have returned safely to India. The embassy has issued several warnings advising Indians considering job offers in Laos to be extra vigilant to avoid falling prey to fraudulent schemes.
