SAS Nagar, September 19 Harpreet Singh of Sahoran village made his village famous by winning two gold medals in the All Open Punjab state level athletic meet. Harpreet Singh said that in the state level athletic meet held from September 15 to September 18 in Sangrur district, he has won 2 gold medals in 1500 meters and 5000 meters.

SAS Nagar, September 19 Harpreet Singh of Sahoran village made his village famous by winning two gold medals in the All Open Punjab state level athletic meet. Harpreet Singh said that in the state level athletic meet held from September 15 to September 18 in Sangrur district, he has won 2 gold medals in 1500 meters and 5000 meters. He said that earlier in the Indian Grand Prix (National) held at Chandigarh on September 10, he had secured the fourth position among runners from all over the world.

Harpreet Singh, son of an ordinary farmer Mahinder Singh, said that he never got training from any state level coach or any international level ground. He is currently N. I. Coach Raman Shankar Prasad of S is taking training from the coach at the government college in Mohali.

Harpreet said that she has also been selected for the All India Open Athletics Championship to be held in Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) from October 11 to 15 next month. Harpreet (who has bagged 6 state-level gold medals so far) said that her family could not afford big coaches. He said that steps are being taken by the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab for the development of sports and the government should arrange international level coaches for the new players so that they can shine their country in the Asian and Olympic Games.
