
Deputy Chief Minister stressed on promoting potato based economy in Una district
Una, September 14- Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, while emphasizing on promoting potato-based economy in Una district, said that the government will take concrete steps for this. He directed the Deputy Commissioner Una to prepare a report after conducting a detailed study to develop a strong mechanism for the purchase and sale of potatoes. The Deputy Chief Minister said that just as the apple-based economy has been successful in Himachal, similarly there are possibilities for potato-based economy in Una.
Participated in Van Mahotsav in Pubowal, planted greenery
Una, September 14- Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, while emphasizing on promoting potato-based economy in Una district, said that the government will take concrete steps for this. He directed the Deputy Commissioner Una to prepare a report after conducting a detailed study to develop a strong mechanism for the purchase and sale of potatoes. The Deputy Chief Minister said that just as the apple-based economy has been successful in Himachal, similarly there are possibilities for potato-based economy in Una.
Addressing a public meeting on the occasion of the 75th Van Mahotsav organized at Pubowal village of Haroli in Una district on Saturday, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the farmers of Una cultivate potatoes on a large scale and there is a bumper production of potatoes here. The government will work to develop a potato-based economy by creating a strong system.
He also expressed his commitment to take decisive steps towards complete fencing of the farmers' fields in the Beet area of ??Haroli.
Permission will not be given to level the ponds
The Deputy Chief Minister gave strict instructions to the administration not to allow anyone to fill the ponds with soil and level them. He said that water filling in the ponds is important to deal with the problem of falling water level in the area, hence conservation of ponds is necessary. He said that Rs 12 crore has been spent on recharging the ponds in Haroli Vidhansabha.
Master plan made for Pubowal site
The pond will be beautified for Rs 2 crore, a grand fountain will be installed on the lines of Sector 17 of Chandigarh
Mukesh Agnihotri said that beautification of Pubowal pond will be done by spending Rs 2 crore. Scientific work is being done to clean the pond water and to put water in the pond after purifying the village drainage. Experts' help is being taken in this. He said that it will be developed as a picturesque place where there will be arrangements for people to walk, entertainment and games for children. A grand fountain will also be installed here on the lines of Sector 17 of Chandigarh. He directed the officials to prepare a master plan for the development of the area along the Pubowal pond.
75 crore irrigation scheme for Beet area
The Deputy Chief Minister said that work is being done to make irrigation scheme-2 in Beet area with an expenditure of Rs. 75 crore. Earlier, work has been done to upgrade irrigation facilities through Beet Area Irrigation Scheme-1. By making the second scheme, the target of providing water to every farm here will be achieved. This will benefit the farmers on a large scale. He said that there was a time when due to rocky land in Beet area, the production of vegetables was negligible. But now due to better irrigation facilities, farmers here are benefiting by cultivating all kinds of vegetables.
Bus depot will open in Haroli
70 crores are being spent on construction and expansion of roads and bridges
The Deputy Chief Minister said that a bus depot will be opened in Haroli soon. Apart from this, a new bus station is being constructed in Haroli. He said that Rs 70 crore is being spent on the improvement and expansion work of various roads and construction of bridges in Haroli assembly. These projects are being done keeping in mind the future traffic needs of the area and this will directly benefit the people.
In this, Rs 11.10 crore will be spent on the improvement and expansion work of the 9 kilometer road from Pandoga Barrier to Panjawar, Rs 12.25 crore on the work of Bhadasali to Badhera road on Panjawar-Bathri road, Rs 9.46 crore on the 8.5 km road from Panjawar-Bathri to Saloh-Badhera, Rs 6.50 crore on the 5 km road from Haroli to Palakwah, Rs 6.05 crore on the 5.5 km long road of Nangal Khurd-Chandpur. Apart from this, two bridges will be constructed at Chandpur Khad at a cost of about Rs 4.87 crore and at Haroli Khad at a cost of Rs 5.75 crore.
He informed that 2 roads have been approved by NABARD for the area. Out of these, Rs 4 crore will be spent on Link Road Shri Gidgida Sahib to Tahli Sahib and Link Road Main Road to Baba Bharthari Temple and Kinnu Mohalla Panjuana-Baliwal Road and Rs 11.77 crore will be spent on Link Road Gondpur Baihali to Bathu Gurplah.
People remember us by our work and not by our names on the plates
The Deputy Chief Minister said that he does not believe in installing name plates. People remember people not by the name on the plates but by their work. The people of Haroli are witness that the development work done here is an example. He said that no matter who puts any name on the development schemes, the public knows the truth. BJP has also installed its name plate on the state's longest bridge built between Haroli-Rampur, but whenever this bridge will be discussed, people will remember them only. He said that Rs 52 crore was sanctioned for this bridge, we did economical and excellent work and built the bridge in Rs 32 crore, saving the government Rs 20 crore.
Health services will be further improved in Haroli Hospital
The Deputy Chief Minister said that work has been done to strengthen health services in Haroli. Along with increasing the capacity of Haroli hospital from 50 to 100 beds, 12 doctors have been deployed there. 6 more doctors will be deployed in the hospital soon.
Plant a tree on the birth of a child
The Deputy Chief Minister planted a sapling on the occasion of Van Mahotsav along with his daughter Dr. Aastha Agnihotri and called upon the people to understand their responsibility towards environmental protection. On this occasion, DC, SP and other officials and dignitaries also planted saplings.
The Deputy Chief Minister appealed to the people to connect plantation with their lives. Plant a tree on the birth of a child, even when they enter school, plant a tree in their name. This will create a bond with plants and a affinity with nature.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal in his address appealed to the people to understand the importance of tree plantation and recognize their responsibility. He urged everyone to make this campaign a mass movement and participate in it.
On this occasion, Conservator Forest Nishant Mandhotra said that Van Mahotsav gives us an opportunity to connect with forests and nature. He said that a target of planting 3 lakh saplings has been set in the plantation campaign in Una district. 1 lakh 5 thousand saplings have been distributed to the people through schools, self-help groups and panchayats.
DFO Sushil Rana gave information about the efforts made in Una district under the tree plantation campaign.
Baba Santosh Das Bittu of Dera Baba Shri Chand Ji, who was specially present in the program, also expressed his views on the occasion of Van Mahotsav and emphasized on public participation towards environmental protection.
