The language department conducted a workshop on 'Punjabi computer science and machine intelligence'

Patiala, August 27 - A first of its kind workshop on 'Punjabi Computing and Machine Intelligence' was conducted under the leadership of Jaswant Singh Zafar, Director of Language Department. Dr. CP Kamboj, an eminent computer expert and working for the computerization of Punjabi language for a long time, shared practical information about various technical points.

Patiala, August 27 - A first of its kind workshop on 'Punjabi Computing and Machine Intelligence' was conducted under the leadership of Jaswant Singh Zafar, Director of Language Department. Dr. CP Kamboj, an eminent computer expert and working for the computerization of Punjabi language for a long time, shared practical information about various technical points. His team included Surinder Singh, Maninder Singh and Jyoti Kaur. In addition to the officials/employees of the language department, representatives of other organizations working for the promotion of Punjabi language also participated in this workshop. Jaswant Singh Zafar, director of language department, gave information about the format and goals of the workshop during his welcome speech. 
He said that Punjabi language needs a lot of efforts to make it fit for the present digital age. Accordingly, the language department has started efforts to establish Punjabi language in machine intelligence. During the four-session workshop, Dr. CP Kamboj gave various lectures on the use of computers and phones for the promotion of Punjabi language, correct and efficient use of Punjabi fonts and software related to the language, digitization of Punjabi literature and other materials related to the language. Valuable information was shared in practical form with the help of projector during the sessions. On this occasion, Dr. Kamboj said that the language department has made a great start through this workshop. We have available a vast literary and versatile treasure created in Punjabi language, which needs to be digitally uploaded on various platforms. 
Regarding this workshop, Bahadur Singh Sandhu, who came from Lambra, Jalandhar, said that he is very happy that the language department has taken a big initiative to give new direction to Punjabi language. Dr. Lakhbir Singh said that just as the language department has made a unique start by digitizing books and dictionaries, other institutions should also prepare the curriculum of subjects like science and engineering in Punjabi language in digital form. Dr. CP Kamboj and his team were honored with shawls by the language department.
