Addressing the students on the occasion, the speakers discussed the dangerous consequences of the two social evils and suggested ways to prevent them. They said that prevention of social evils is possible only through two-pronged efforts. One is awareness for the general public and the other is strict legal action against those who spread crime. Social service organizations are mainly dedicated to awareness. The speakers at the seminar expressed concern over the indifference towards employment opportunities in Punjab as well as the trend of migration. Applications should be made for the vacancies available in government, semi-government and private institutions, whereas Punjabis, especially in the Doaba region, seem to be indifferent to employment opportunities. They appealed to all parents to be cautious towards their children and said that instead of being strict with the children who commit mistakes, they should have a feeling of love towards them and try to take help of social workers for treatment.
