SAS Nagar, September 12 The State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) of the Punjab Police has busted an extortion racket backed by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Police have arrested two key operatives of this gang and recovered two .32 bore pistols and two live cartridges from their possession. The arrested persons have been identified as Tarlochan Singh alias Rahul Cheema resident of Sector 26 Chandigarh and Harish alias Harry alias Baba Village Bupania District Jhajjar, Haryana.

The AIG said that preliminary investigation revealed that both the arrested persons wanted to gain fame. They had created profiles on various social media platforms where they displayed arms and ammunition to lure youth and radicalize them to work for the gang. They said that these two youths used to offer high-end lifestyle to innocent youths by promising good amount of money in return.

He said that a case under Sections 25, 25(6) and 25(7) of the Arms Act and Sections 384 and 120B of the IPC has been registered at the SSOC Mohali Police Station. The two accused have been remanded in three-day police custody after being produced in a local court and further inquiries are underway to trace and nab other members of the module.
