
A demand letter was given to the Chief Minister of Punjab through a dharna by farmer organizations outside the Deputy Commissioner's office.
SAS Nagar, September 4 District Mohali unit of Bharatiya Kisan Union Rajewal staged a dharna for 2 hours in front of DC office Mohali in the morning and gave a demand letter to the Chief Minister through DC. Giving information about this Union the District President Mr. Kirpal Singh Siyaun and senior leader Mr. Paramdeep Singh Baidwan said that today the union has held sit-ins at all the district headquarters of Panja and has sent demand letters to the Chief Minister along with the Deputy Commissioners.
It has been said in the demand letter that due to large-scale floods across Punjab this year, all the crops have suffered a lot. Many people's houses have collapsed, animals have died and lives have also been lost. There was no fodder left for the cattle in the flooded area, the straw piles were flooded. People's houses suffered a lot of damage due to water ingress. The letter said that at least 7000 crores of damage has been caused due to floods and it is the primary responsibility of the government to come forward to provide relief to the people. It has been said in the letter that the government was nowhere to be seen during the calamity of this huge nature and it is only the common people of Punjab who came to help the flood victims by taking langar, milk, fodder for the animals for their community. People got together and filled the gaps in the rivers. The letter has demanded that the working days under MNREGA scheme for workers should be increased from 100 to 200 per year and this scheme should also be applied to farmers. In the letter, the government has been warned to complete the process for compensation of crops, houses, animals etc. as soon as possible and ensure payment of compensation by September 20, otherwise the farmers will be forced to protest, which will be the responsibility of the government. The leaders said that fertilizers are usually not available as required in the cooperative societies, so strict orders should be given to the Markfed to ensure full supply of fertilizers. Along with this, it has been demanded that the government should ensure the purchase of paddy from September 20. He said that the central government has banned the export of baspati rice with conditions, which will lead to the looting of the farmers. Therefore, this issue should be immediately taken up with the central government and this ban on exports should be removed. The leaders said that after the water dries up in the fields, the farmers will have to take out the frozen sand, so the government should order the mining department not to create problems for the farmers while leveling their fields and every farmer should remove the frozen sand from the fields or There should be an exemption to remove the soil and sell it so that they can prepare their fields for the next crop.
