
20th SJOBA TSD Rally 2024
The 20th SJOBA TSD Rally 2024, the flagship motorsports event of the St. John's Old Boys' Association, the alumni association of St. John's High School, Chandigarh, with over 4500 registered members, will traverse the beautiful landscapes of Punjab from September 27 to September 29. This year's rally is particularly significant as it is being held for the first time as an independent SJOBA TSD Rally, adding a new chapter to the history of this prestigious rally.
The 20th SJOBA TSD Rally 2024, the flagship motorsports event of the St. John's Old Boys' Association, the alumni association of St. John's High School, Chandigarh, with over 4500 registered members, will traverse the beautiful landscapes of Punjab from September 27 to September 29. This year's rally is particularly significant as it is being held for the first time as an independent SJOBA TSD Rally, adding a new chapter to the history of this prestigious rally.
The details of North India's longest running motorsports event were shared by SJOBA senior office bearers and rally officials at a press meet held at St. John's High School, Sector 26, Chandigarh.
SJOBA President, Harpal Singh Malwai expressed pride in the progress of the event and said, “This is a significant moment for the SJOBA TSD Rally. Our commitment to motorsports excellence continues and we look forward to welcoming participants from across India.”
Danish Singh Mangat, Secretary, SJOBA and Competitor Relations Officer (CRO) highlighted the diverse participation and said, “The rally offers a perfect blend of challenge and camaraderie. We are excited to welcome the participants and provide them with a memorable experience throughout the event.”
He further added, “46 teams are participating this year, including 3 specially abled teams, 14 all-women teams and 3 senior citizens teams. It is a matter of pride to see such inclusiveness in the rally and we feel extremely proud of the enthusiasm shown by all the participants.”
SPS Ghai, Clerk of Course (COC) of the rally expressed his excitement and said, “This year’s route will test the skills of both experienced drivers and new participants, while also offering breathtaking views of Punjab. The free format will take the rally to new heights.”
Nagendra Singh, Deputy Clerk of Course (DCOC) of the rally, added, “Our team has worked hard to ensure all safety protocols are in place and we are confident that this year’s rally will be one of the most competitive rallies.”
On medical matters, the event’s Chief Medical Officers (CMO), Dr Vivek Kapoor and Dr Utkarsh Singh Anand assured that “We have put in place a comprehensive medical plan to ensure that the safety and health of every participant is taken care of during the rally.”
Finally, Navkiran Singh, Chief Security Officer (CSO), emphasised, “Safety is our top priority. We have put in place robust safety protocols and our teams are fully prepared to deal with any eventuality to ensure that the rally runs without any interruption.”
On this occasion, special thanks were given to the title sponsors VRS Infrastructure and Servo – Indian Oil, who are powering the rally. Co-sponsor Punjab Tourism and other prestigious sponsors, including Paul Merchants, Tynor, Vamsi Marla, Fortis, Coca-Cola (Kandhari Beverages) and hospitality partner The Lalit Chandigarh were also thanked for their support.
This year, the rally will have a cash prize of ?3 lakh, with participants competing for the top prizes. The opening ceremony will be held on September 27 at 5 pm from St. John's High School, Chandigarh, where scrutiny of participants will be done from 11 am. The rally will conclude on September 29 at 5 pm at St. John's High School, Chandigarh, and the prize distribution ceremony will begin at 7:30 pm at The Lalit Hotel, Chandigarh.
Affiliated to the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), the rally is expected to attract professional and emerging rally drivers from across the country.
